The 20-year-old momentarily holds the bar in the air. But she then buckles under the pressure and falls to the ground with the weight tumbling dangerously close behind.
Incredibly, Gomez later managed to pick herself up and continue - and she went on to win a silver medal in the women’s 116-pound category after successfully lifting an even heavier 240-pound bar.
She was runner-up to Colombia’s Rusmeris Villar Barboza.
